My time in London is coming to a close very quickly, and although I haven’t had much alone time to reflect on my experience, I figured I’d share regardless, in the form of a list of things I have learned since stepping off the plane in terminal 5 of Heathrow International.
- choose who you live with carefully, it will make or break the experience.
- do not trust estate agents
- eat anything and everything
- do not take out loans you can not pay back.
- if you are broke, life can still be awesome
- working in a different country will make you feel out of place
- plan your night buses. always
- get lost: you wont regret it
- always carry cash
- find little things that remind you of home
- be patient
- always stand on the right on the escalator
- people don’t know how to walk
- people do not know how to drive
- find alone time
- always be open to making new friends, no matter the situation.
- be conscious of how much money you have, but don’t be stingy.
- pack light
- don’t make plans
- make plans
- cook your own food often.
- peeing in public is acceptable.
- don’t argue with people, even your friends-you’ll need them.
- smoke tons of weed.
i’ll write a more formal piece later.
